Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) with its roots in the holistic system of medicine, is quite simply a combination of breath work, yoga stretching and deep tissue massage.

AYM was developed by Master Kusum Modak (pictured above) in Pune, India, after many years of studying traditional Ayurvedic Massage and Iyengar yoga.

AYM is performed on a comfortable mat or a futon which allows for free range of movement and flow. This grounding, deep tissue massage is both effective and relaxing and brings the world of Ayurveda, Massage and Yoga together. AYM is a multifaceted treatment that is suitable for most clients and although normally a deep tissue massage, it can be a soothing treatment for those who prefer more of a sedate treatment.

AYM incorporates some yoga stretches and gentle mobilisation which helps to lengthen tissues, relax the tendons and ligaments and assist the renewal of the synovial fluid. Organic sesame oil and calamus powder are used in AYM and helps to bring toxins out of the body and acts as nerve tonic.. Calamus is widely used herb in ayurvedic medicine since ancient times and is absolutely excellent for calming the mind
